Oceanside Hospice Society
Client Intake/Grief & Bereavement Counsellor

Oceanside Hospice Society provides support services to individuals and their families who are dealing
with a terminal illness or the recent death of a loved one, family member or friend. We are looking for a
caring, compassionate individual with grief counselling experience to join our team.
This contract position is part-time with flexible hours set depending on program demands, fluctuating
organizational workloads and funding.

This position will provide counselling services to individuals and families, including intake assessments and
on-going case management — bereavement and grief support to clients, families, and groups. The
Counsellor collaborates with other program staff to ensure integrated, comprehensive service delivery to
the community. A team player is essential to this role as you will be working alongside a small and
supportive staff.

The successful applicant will hold a minimum of a Master’s Degree in counselling, social work or an
undergraduate degree; a minimum of two years grief and loss counselling experience and will be a
registered member of a professional regulatory body. This candidate will have strong organizational and
interpersonal skills; and a good understanding of the philosophy of hospice palliative care, the needs of the
dying, their families and the bereaved.
