Oceanside Hospice Society (OHS) - Client Services Coordinator

CLIENT SERVICES COORDINATOR required for one to two days per week.


REPORTING to the Executive Director, supervised by the OHS staff counsellor and in collaboration with the Volunteer Coordinator; the Client Services Coordinator manages aspects of the Oceanside Hospice Society client intake and referral to services and programs.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

Include managing OHS client intake and referral to services.

Assesses the needs of potential clients who approach or are referred to the Society and ensures all clients receive the services which are offered and appropriate to their needs

Participates in ongoing program planning and development for the society Hospice/Palliative and Bereavement Support programs and services.

Participates in staff, volunteer training and educational sessions.

Collaborates with OHS staff counsellor and the OHS volunteer coordinator in matching & assigning volunteers to clients and ensuring effective scheduling.


SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and listening skills
  • Caring and compassionate nature and communication style
  • Education/experience in counselling, social work, and psychology would be an asset.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the philosophy of palliative care and the needs of the dying, their families and the bereaved.
  • Knowledge of community resources available to persons who are at end of life or bereaved.
  • Evidence of having successfully supported persons who are palliative or dealing with chronic illness
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of the team
  • Tact & Diplomacy, Sensitivity to Confidentiality
  • Valid Driver’s License with clean driver abstract
