Oceanside Hospice has over 100 volunteers who are the heart and soul of our organization. There are many different areas within our organization that you can help support, and new volunteers are always welcome.
Assignment of volunteers is based on community needs. Volunteer training is given once a year.
Becoming a Client Support Volunteer
Client support volunteers work directly with our clients in their homes, on the Palliative care unit and with our bereavement support programs including the Self-Care Clinic. They are required to take our 30 hour volunteer training program which runs over seven weeks. The cost is $75 which includes the annual membership fee. If you are interested in training, please bring in the completed Volunteer Application to Oceanside Hospice Society and set-up an interview with the Volunteer Coordinator.
Equipment Delivery Volunteers
Equipment delivery volunteers are ready and willing volunteers who deliver equipment as necessary to clients in their homes. It is not necessary that they take the volunteer training; however, volunteers will need to attend an equipment orientation.
Oceanside Hospice Society is currently recruiting volunteers:
We are looking for past, existing and new volunteers to work with us on the following projects:
Festive Season Volunteers to organize and deliver the Christmas House Tour of the Hospice Support Centre, including decorating the house, baking and serving the bake sale, and providing musical entertainment on the day.
Golf Tournament Volunteers to fundraise, organize and help deliver our annual Golf Tournament.
Speakers Bureau Volunteers to speak to groups and businesses in the community about Hospice, Advance Care Planning, Planned Giving and other topics. Training and Equipment will be provided.
Please contact us at 250-752-6227 to sign up for any of these valuable projects contributing to the ongoing sustainability of Hospice services in Oceanside.
Board of Directors Volunteers Oceanside Hospice Society Board of Directors is currently re-examining the organizations’ Strategic Objectives and will be determining the best mix of Board Members to carry our organization forward.
