Oceanside Hospice has over 60 volunteers who are the heart and soul of our organization.

There are many different areas within our organization that you can help support, and new volunteers are always welcome. The assignment of volunteers is based on community needs.

It is mandatory that every volunteer must complete a 40-hour hospice volunteer training program which runs over seven weeks. The cost is $65 and includes the annual membership fee. Volunteer training is typically offered two times per year based on demand of services.

If you are interested in becoming an Oceanside Hospice Volunteer, please complete and email this Volunteer Application form to info@oceansidehospice.com. We can also be reached at 250.752.6227.

Thank you for your interest. Volunteers are an integral part of our organization, supporting programs and services to ensure patients and families receive quality end-of-life care and support. It takes a special person with strong skills and abilities to become a hospice volunteer, and we’re lucky to have such a dedicated team.

Featured Volunteer:

Thelma retired from the Marina and Lodge in Ladysmith as the owner/operator. Thelma has three amazing children, six stunning grandchildren and two beautiful great-grandchildren.

Thelma sadly lost her husband in 2013, and Oceanside Hospice allowed her to heal. Thelma attended the Grief Group and enjoyed the Healing Touch Sessions she received. The Kindness and understanding of both the Staff and Volunteers was above and beyond anything she could have ever expected.

Hospice has inspired Thelma to give back to help others. "Volunteering at Oceanside Hospice Society has been a truly rewarding experience. Words cannot express my gratitude for those at Hospice, who have allowed me to lean on them, learn from them, and allowed me to work alongside them. I feel they have made me a better.. more understanding human being."

"Thelma has been volunteering with Oceanside Hospice Society for over five years, and we truly appreciate her kind and caring nature and her willingness to always lend a hand! Thank you, Thelma, for all that you do for Hospice."
